Still waiting for April 15th. But on a side note, had 3 toms gobbling in the roost behind the house today, 2 within 200 yards. About 45 minutes after flydown, I could see one nice strutter in the field. Got me pumped. I dont hunt that land, but might call the landowner to see if he minds if I slip down there a couple mornings. Regardless, it was nice to hear and see.

Our season opens this Saturday, but I will be out of town. Have been out of town a good bit over the last couple of weeks, too. Come Monday morning, though, I'll be in the woods! Most mornings until season closes as well! Can't wait! Got a new rig for this year...sold a few guns, including my Mossberg 835 with a 20" barrel and thumbhole stock, and purchased a Browning Maxus today! It's pretty sweet! Hope it patterns as well as the old Mossberg did. Had to do something about that ridiculous recoil! That 835 seemed to kick at least twice as hard as the 870 that I had before it.

Been to KS with 870 and there are birds everywhere, except at the end of the gun LOL. The ones we were on thoses days were hitting ground and running to WIDE OPEN SPACES. Funny how tey always wound up in the private field and not the public ground!

Saw 3 more nice strutters today. These last 2 weeks leading up to season are going to take forever.
