Hunted on post last weekend, the cold weather has the birds messed up. We usually average 100 birds on opening weekend, this year it was 15. I came close a couple times just by spotting flocks and trying to get in front of them. Hopefully we will get some warm weather soon. I'm going back this weekend to try again.

This is a before and after picture.

Dang RP - you upped the anti and this tops your first bird -
Your score is 17 + 13.75 + 13.75 + 18.75 = 63.25

If we all can do a 60 point bird we might win this......as I have conductiing this contest for quite a few years! Good Job sir!

Zim, that's an awesome mount. One day, after I sell one of my kidneys and several gallons of plasma, I'll be able to do an elk hunt out west. Did you mount the turkey fan yourself or go to a taxidermist? If a taxidermist how much? I've seen no cheaper than $150 around the chicagoland area.

RPD63, Good job! Thanks for the cool pics!

Snakeater, That was my 1st turkey years ago in Indiana. So ya I did have a taxidermist do that. $150 sounds right. However, You can just order a nice mounting kit online and do that yourself pretty easy. That is what I'd do now. The kits at the stores are kind of crappy.

Cool, Zim. $150 is a bit much, thank god for youtube. I think I'll be mounting my fans and beards myself....if I harvest one this year.

Dang it I screwed up! I am going to miss Upper Michigan's opener 4/22 because I appled wrong in WI this yr.....oh well

I start 4/22 at Fort McCoy. I do have a 4/24 Zone 1 Season 3(C) tag too!
I also have Zone 1 Seasons 4 (D), Season 5(E) and then Zone 5 Season 5(D) and Season 6(E). So I can stay busy right to the end of May as Mich is 4/22 to 5/31? (gotta look).......

Now between tabulating for this contest with limited comuter time it will be a push as I hunt a ton......I do know on a few of those seasons there still is left over tags......but then I don't shoot Jakes - well I do but with a video only.

So I am sure I will be back with something to show for my efforts....... been doing thsi contest a long time and have yet to be skunked!

So be safe out there team! Have fun, learn from your mistakes , and reprot back.

DAve......JW
