swampbuster checking in!

superstrutter 03-02-2013 06:55 PM

What's up guys? I'll be hunting Texas, Oklahoma, and my property in Louisiana this season. Only three weeks left.

swampbuster 03-03-2013 05:33 AM

I will be hunting Kansas, Nebraska and Arkansas can't. Wait to get things started!!

BB Outdoors 03-03-2013 03:46 PM

BB Outdoors checking in! I will be hunting wisconsin

RJPOUTDOORS 03-04-2013 04:22 PM

Ready for some fun.

superstrutter 03-04-2013 07:17 PM

RJP, looks like we are teamed up again. Let's take the title home again. Only four of us have checked in. Everyone needs to check in so we can win this thing. I have an idea for a team name, Longbeard Legion. I don't think it's been used before.

superstrutter 03-05-2013 07:05 PM

I have sent messages to everyone who has not checked in. Hopefully everyone will check in. Anyone hearing or seeing birds? I'll be going out this weekend to listen. From the tracks I've seen, it looks like I may have two gobblers roaming my property. Hopefully I'll know for sure this weekend.

BetterBirddogs 03-06-2013 04:57 AM

Checking in. I'm bow hunting exclusively. I will have probably have KS birds killed early. The team I was on last year almost won this. I shot two of the top 6 birds killed. Hopefully I'll be able to duplicate that this year.

superstrutter 03-06-2013 07:05 AM

Good to see you. That's five down and six to go. The 11th is the deadline for check in's, so I hope the rest check in soon.

swampbuster 03-06-2013 07:05 PM

I have not heard any yet this season. I have not been out listening yet. The crappie bug has hit me hard this year been to busy fishing.

superstrutter 03-07-2013 08:13 AM

Okay, we have only had five of us checked in, so it's kind of hard to vote on a captain and a team name when over half of the team doesn't check in. Will anybody be offended if I just take the reigns as captain? I have been captain for most of the teams I have been on. If someone else wants it, let me know. As for a team name, I like Longbeard Legion. If anyone objects or has another idea, let us know. I hate to seem bossy, but we need to get things going and we aren't exactly having a good turnout yet. Hopefully the rest of you will check in soon. If not, we will have to replace you with alternates.

BB Outdoors 03-07-2013 12:13 PM

It'll be a couple weeks yet until birds start gobbling here in Wisconsin. I put the trail cameras out last weekend to do some scouting for me. I will be checking them hopefully this weekend.

jalex 03-07-2013 01:13 PM

Checking in, I'll be hunting MO mostly. Can't wait!

RyanVT 03-07-2013 04:50 PM

checking in sorry for the wait forgot it started so early on here. Ill be hunting vermont. Season starts may 1st

swampbuster 03-07-2013 06:57 PM

Team name and captain works for me thanks for taking that on SS

RyanVT 03-08-2013 04:45 AM

Ya im good with captain and name as well. Anybody any good at making avatar things or whatever there called haha.

swampbuster 03-08-2013 06:46 AM

I'm out on that wish I could help but don't know much

superstrutter 03-08-2013 09:48 AM

Thanks for checking in guys. We're down to four no shows now. I don't know about an avatar either, so I'm no help there. I'm going out in the morning to listen and film. Hope I hear a few gobbles.

RJPOUTDOORS 03-09-2013 10:29 PM

Sorry for not checking in more, been back and fourth from day shift to night shift. Birds are still in there winter patterns, seen 9 long beards Saturday.

superstrutter 03-10-2013 12:03 PM

Went to my property Sat. and heard only one bird, and he wasn't on my property. There will be plenty hunters chasing him. All the cutting in the area is messing me up. Looks like it may be a tough year in Louisiana. There should be a good number of 3 yr. olds where I'm hunting in Texas and Oklahoma.

RyanVT 03-10-2013 12:41 PM

When does everybody's season start up?

superstrutter 03-10-2013 04:18 PM

In Louisiana it opens on March 23, south Texas March 16, and in Oklahoma April 6. I'll be leaving on March 26 to go to south Texas for a three day hunt and OK in the first or second week of the season in April.

BB Outdoors 03-10-2013 04:50 PM

I drew first season here in Wisconsin which is April 10-16. Then I will buy left over tags for last couple seasons in the first part of May

RyanVT 03-11-2013 04:13 AM

Wow you guys get to start early! Lucky

superstrutter 03-11-2013 11:47 AM

Yep, I'm glad I have early seasons. I think it would kill me knowing I had to wait til May to turkey hunt.

JW 03-11-2013 11:53 AM

Nah waiting ain't the problem - all the dumb, skinny, scrawny, come to any call, little boys get shot first. Give them a few more months and they plump up. HA!

JW

superstrutter 03-11-2013 11:54 AM

Looks like we are going to have some no shows. I just don't understand why so many people sign up for a hunting contest and never check in with their team. I guess we'll have some alternates.

Yeah I guess your right. Those plump northern cornfed lazy barnyard birds are probably pretty tasty.

JW 03-11-2013 01:18 PM

Yep and we don't have things that bite you, stick you, ooops gotta take that back - we got wolves and cougars now but no snakes! Least in WI and MI.

superstrutter 03-11-2013 03:48 PM

JW, I think the odds of you seeing a cougar in WI are about as good as me seeing a moose in Louisiana, depending on what type of cougar you are talking about of course. We have plenty of snakes and insects here in LA., but in south Texas, everything sticks or bites you. I never come home without some strange bite or a thorn stuck in me somewhere.

jalex 03-12-2013 09:35 AM

They were gobbling this weekend on my place. From my high spot I could count at least 20 birds gobbling on the roost. I had 10 within 500 yards. I heard several all around farther away, when they are a long way off it's hard to tell how many were there. I heard birds gobble from at least 10 different locations from afar. That was just on one section of the farm. I'm going to listen on the other side this weekend. I don't start till middle of April. I'm taking a youth at the beginning of April.

superstrutter 03-12-2013 09:51 AM

Dang boy, looks like you've got a sweet spot. Good luck getting those big Missouri gobblers.

swampbuster 03-12-2013 04:56 PM

Sounds pretty good jalex hope you get to connect with those birds in a month or so.

Arrowmaster 03-12-2013 05:13 PM

Welcome your 2 new team members Talondale and Bucktail Bob

swampbuster 03-13-2013 07:30 AM

Welcome talon dale and buck when does your season start

superstrutter 03-13-2013 09:26 AM

Welcome to the team guys. Please check in.

Talondale 03-13-2013 10:47 AM

Talondale Checking in. Hunting in VA. Our season opens April 13. Saw a bunch of birds on the way in to work today and one of those big boys was strutting his stuff. I've got a couple of sweet spots and will be trying a new farm of a friend the 2nd and 3rd day of the season. Some good opportunities coming up. Looking to contribute to the team.

Bucktail_Bob 03-13-2013 11:31 AM

BB checking in. I’ll be hunting northern IL.
It’s the third week of April for me.

superstrutter 03-13-2013 04:38 PM

Looks like we got a team. Let's go get 'em.
