Default 2005 SHOT Show Day 2 - New Hunting Gear for 2005

As Day 2 begins to wind down we're finally getting to rest our weary feet and reflect on all the new gear we go to see. For those who thought there was a lot to see at the ATA Show, I have to tell you that the SHOT Show is simply unbelievable. There is more hunting and shooting equipment here than most people will ever see in their lifetime, and that probably only accounts for one fourth of what we saw. While there are plenty of great people in this industry, I'm always amazed at the number of people who are just downright rude or completely uninterested in having their products showcased on the Internet. But you can't let the negatives drag you down. There are a ton of great people and great new products that deserve all the attention they get.

Back to work - our day started off over breakfast with Ralph and Vicky Cianciarulo from Archer's Choice. Ralph and Vicki have been long-time friends of HuntingNet and it was great to sit down with them. They truely are some of the nicest people in the industry, and we look forward to seeing them again very soon. Here they are outside the convention center this morning.

Once we got inside the waiting began. With over 19,000 people scheduled to attend the show it was full to say the least.

Now we were ready to go in. Here's the HNI staff from left to right - Todd Graf, Christine Appleberg, Bob McDonald, and Justin Zarr.

One of our first stops of the day was at Jack's Juice - makers of scents and scent eliminators. New for 2005 is their line of scent eliminators in spray bottles that won't clog when held upside down. We all know how frustrating it is when you're trying to spray down your backside and nothing is coming out. For more information please visit www.jacksjuice.com.

We also ran into Lou and Vicki Evans from LVE Decals as well. These great folks from Whitesville, Kentucky took some time out to show us their new line of Realtree camo decals. From Deer to Turkeys to Elk, LVE Decals is your #1 source for hunting decals. Visit www.lvedecals.com to view their complete selection of hunting decals today.

Wildgame Innovations was on hand to debut their new Nocturnal Nightmare Daytime only feeder. This one of a kind trough type feeder only allows animals to feed from it during daylight hours, dramatically reducing the amount of wasted feed from nighttime deer and varmint feeding. Here we see Geoff Begnaud discussing the advantages of the new system. Please visit www.wildgameinnovations.com for more info.

For anyone who has ever fought with a steel tape measure while scoring a trophy whitetail, the Rackulator is for you. This handy little device will walk you through the step by step scoring system while it digitally records and adds up the measurments for you. Pinpoint accuracy and failsafe measurements make the Rackulator a must-have for those of us who didn't do so well in advance Algebra. Here we see Scott Wolff demonstrating just how easy the Rackulator is to use. www.rackulator.com for more info.

Steve Lorenz of Renzo Decoys was onhand to showcase his line of brilliantly simple decoys. But the highlight of the new Renzo lineup for 2005 wasn't so much their decoys, but their new line of coloring book packages targeted towards the hunters of tomorrow. Packages include coloring books, a sheet of stickers, and a box of crayons. For more information on Renzo's line of decoys and all their innovative new products please visit www.renzosdecoys.com

CalendarDates.com's Melinda Hoeye was also in attendance to showcase her line of 2005 Unique Calendars for Unique People. They may call it Unique, but I'm sure the HuntingNet staff could find a few other good descriptives for these calendars. Courtney, Miss March of the Guns and Camo edition Calendar, was kind enough to pose for a few publicity shots for us. Visit www.calendardates.com for the full line of Reel Fish Productions' calendars.

The Mallard Machine is an innovative, portable, and lightweight decoy system that operates off any 12 volt power source and comes standard with a 100 foot cord, so you can stay concealed in your blind while your decoys do all the work for you. New for 2005 is the 4 duck system that features the most realistic swimming and diving action available today. Here we have Shanna Lee Brock showing off the remote control that can be operated by either hand or foot from your blind. Visit www.themallardmachine.com for more details.

DRYGUY™ offers a wide variety of footwear and accessory driers for all applications. We found several interesting and useful items displayed at their booth. Perhaps the most innovative item was the DryGuy Gear Tree. It is a metal frame that circulates warm or unheated air into any item you need to have dried. You can dry an entire outfit from your boots to your hat with it at once. It also features height adjustments and folds down very easy for portability. www.dryguy.net for more info.

Also new for 2005 is FullPro's SoundVision, a patented ear-and-eye protection combination that allows comfortable and effective simultaneous use of ear and eye protection for sport and trade. We spoke with Erik Mikyasa and his staff about the SoundVision and they told us they're very optimistic about the future of this innovative new product. Check out www.fullpro.com for more info.

Mendota Products of St. Paul, MN is also here in Las Vegas to showcase their line of dog products. In addition to their well established line of leads, they are introducing their new No-Spill Bowl. This is a great product for those of you with puppies at home who are concerned about the messes they tend to make. Check out all of Mendota's great products at www.mendotaproducts.com. Below you can see owner Douglas Lassey dislpaying his No-Spill Bowl.

Another great product we found was the Safety Rack. The product is made from a high impact resinous material and uses a system of hooks to hang from your window. A series of suction cups then secures the Rack to the side of your vehicle and creates a protective barrier. The Safety Rack is designed to house 5 guns and comes in 2 standard colors. Visit Jared and his staff online at www.safetyrack.com.

Your fingerprint is the key with the INPRINT personal property safe. The INPRINT measures the physical characteristics of your unique fingerprint so it can identify and allow access to you and up to 15 authorized users. It works by scanning you fingerprint with an easy set-up process. For access, you place your finger on the sensor. The safe door then springs open for immediate access. No codes, combinations or sequences to remember. www.inprintsafe.com

As always Greg Sesselmann President of Scent-lok® was friendly than ever and never seems to miss a beat when it comes new products and ideas. Here are some photos of the booth, and a list of some of the new products that are coming out for this season.

Scentlok Supreme Lightweight Goretex Jacket.
Deluxe parkas, gloves, headcovers and other accessories.
Other cool products that I saw were:
Cowbow Hat cover, Fleece Poptop Gloves, Handwarmer muff, fleece radar headcover & the all new savanna EXT ultralight series.

If your looking for an alternative to loose fitting jackets that dont hold birds well and just weight you down then look no further, you will love these new packs by Mother. The packs have a water and game cooler that rides on your back. From what I could see they will be having 4 different models available. www.mothertech.net
