2005 SHOT Show Day 2 - New Hunting Gear for 2005
As Day 2 begins to wind down we're finally getting to rest our weary feet and reflect on all the new gear we go to see. For those who thought there was a lot to see at the ATA Show, I have to tell you that the SHOT Show is simply unbelievable. There is more hunting and shooting equipment here than most people will ever see in their lifetime, and that probably only accounts for one fourth of what we saw. While there are plenty of great people in this industry, I'm always amazed at the number of people who are just downright rude or completely uninterested in having their products showcased on the Internet. But you can't let the negatives drag you down. There are a ton of great people and great new products that deserve all the attention they get.
Back to work - our day started off over breakfast with Ralph and Vicky Cianciarulo from Archer's Choice. Ralph and Vicki have been long-time friends of HuntingNet and it was great to sit down with them. They truely are some of the nicest people in the industry, and we look forward to seeing them again very soon. Here they are outside the convention center this morning.
Once we got inside the waiting began. With over 19,000 people scheduled to attend the show it was full to say the least.
Now we were ready to go in. Here's the HNI staff from left to right - Todd Graf, Christine Appleberg, Bob McDonald, and Justin Zarr.
One of our first stops of the day was at Jack's Juice - makers of scents and scent eliminators. New for 2005 is their line of scent eliminators in spray bottles that won't clog when held upside down. Wildgame Innovations was on hand to debut their new Nocturnal Nightmare Daytime only feeder. This one of a kind trough type feeder only allows animals to feed from it during daylight hours, dramatically reducing the amount of wasted feed from nighttime deer and varmint feeding. For anyone who has ever fought with a steel tape measure while scoring a trophy whitetail, the Rackulator is for you. This handy little device will walk you through the step by step scoring system while it digitally records and adds up the measurments for you. But the highlight of the new Renzo lineup for 2005 wasn't so much their decoys, but their new line of coloring book packages targeted towards the hunters of tomorrow. CalendarDates.com's Melinda Hoeye was also in attendance to showcase her line of 2005 Unique Calendars for Unique People. They may call it Unique, but I'm sure the HuntingNet staff could find a few other good descriptives for these calendars. Perhaps the most innovative item was the DryGuy Gear Tree. It is a metal frame that circulates warm or unheated air into any item you need to have dried. Also new for 2005 is FullPro's SoundVision, a patented ear-and-eye protection combination that allows comfortable and effective simultaneous use of ear and eye protection for sport and trade. Another great product we found was the Safety Rack. The product is made from a high impact resinous material and uses a system of hooks to hang from your window.
