So how long has everyone been hunting? What are you hunting with?
This is my first year hunting turkey, I am going to try to get one with my bow, I will be hunting deer at the same time. If all goes well we will have wild turkey on turkey-day. |

This is my 8th'ish year turkey hunting.. I'm not sure how many times I'll get out targeting turkeys specifically, but if one comes by when I'm bowhunting it's in trouble:D
And I don't think a name is required, but it would be nice to have. |

I have been hunting turkey's for about 30 years, I hunt them with a bow, We need a name, the thunder chicken or something funny....

Guys, I screwed up yesterday. Was out putting stands up and walking a new piece of ground, when I come up over a rise and low and behold there they were. 5 longbeards looking at me, they slowly walk away, but they were all easy pickings. The worst part about it was the shotgun was sitting in the back seat of my vehicle. To lazy to carry it around with me.........Live and Learn!

Thunder Chickensounds good to me!
Got me a Turkey Opening day was 10-06 and I went out in the rain, My friend went out too, about 300 yards down the field, not 30 mins after he gets there I hear a bang, So my hunt was over for that morning. That afternoon I get out there with my bow, I was there about 1 1/2 hours when 11 turkeys came in and 3 were big toms:D. Well I pulled my bow back and let the arrow fly, and I missed[:@]. They dont hold still for long. So that hunt was over. The next morning nothing, But that night here they come, the same 11 from the night before, But this time I have my friends 12ga. SoI sat there,they gotabout 22 yards from me, eating the berrys off of the tree. when BANG!!:D  His weight was 21lbs Both spurs were 1 1/4 inch Beard length was 11 inch 21 + 12.5 + 12.5 + 22 = 68 |

Thank you. It will be a hard bird to top. They said aim high for you first:DI can say I am hooked.I will be makeing this part of my hunting trips every year, that I can get a tag.

Guys, got another one for the team. Shot a 19lb. 2 oz. tom yesterday. 11 1/4" beard and 1 1/16" spurs. Took some pics. but my computer has been down for awhile. It might take some time before I get the pictures posted.

Finally.... Had to get a new hard drive, mine was shot.
The story on the bird........ I was sitting at the edge of a field I've been seeing a few Toms out in, all the time. About an hour after light here they come, 4 of them. Two had really long beards, so I concentrated on them. I picked out the one that looked bigger in body size and layed him out. 30 yards. FirstLongbeard takenin the fall ever! 19#2oz.,11 1/4" beard, 1 1/16" in. spurs. Total 62.875  |
