Thread to my story, pics, and score.

So heres some pics of my biggest bird to date. He weighed an ounce under 23 lbs on certified scales. 9.5" beard and 1 1/8" matching spurs.

Score is 22.9375 + 11.25 + 11.25 + 19 = 64.4375

I love living in the middle of nowhere. I walk out my door this morning to my back porch to drink my coffee and have my morning smoke. and what to do my ears behold. two toms gobbling within 150 yards of my back door. heck i could probably put the blind up on the porch and just call em to the yard.

92hours and counting

Well guys, had a great weekend again. Had I not decided to strictly bowhunt from here on out, Id have tagged out easily with an even bigger bird. It came byFriday afternoon while sitting in the Double Bull about 30-35 yards out, but I didn't feel comfortable with the shot. I've just recently reupgraded everything on my bow, and still dont have the confidence built up yet. Im on out to 25, but turkeys get a pass past that. I set up on this same bird the next morning, he pitched out 50 yards from the blind, another shotgun opportunity, worked away while gobbling to my calls, but made a huge loop and was back again 40 yards behind the blind hung up gobbling his head off. Yet a third time to drill him with the scatter gun.

Im still determined, and found a MONSTER of a bird on my girlfriends farm. Stopped by her house on the way to my Uncles farm today and spotted a big turkey crossing her grandpas wheatfield. It then puffs up into full strut. When she gets in the truck to go with me, we drive down the road past it....that dude has a ROPE. thickest beard ive ever seen, dragging the ground as well. Hefty and I saw hooks from the road. No one has hunted here yet this season either. Headin out in the AM before 730 class to locate where he or possible other birds are roosted, and will hunt Tuesday AM and PM. Im fairly certain this field corner is a strut zone for him the afternoon, and there is a picture perfect cedar thicket to place the DB up against not 20 yards from where he was.

Ill report back later this week.

I was hopin he would swing around and come in on my side but no luck. i also saw my first strutting hen and boy did she have an attitude. she took on a jake deke and beat it senseless. gonna head back out wed morning and try to connect.
