Well guys, I have to say I let us down,, I didnt kill a bird this spring, and season is over,, this is the first time in 24 years that I havent tagged at least one bird!!!! I am literally sick to my stomach, it was the worst season Ive ever hunted. I could stand at our fence and hear 8-10 birds almost every morning but always down in the neighbors field and I dont have permission to hunt there, so what could I do?? I hunted 18 out of 21 days of season, and had a total of 3 birds answer my calls, one came in and picked me off early and I knocked him down but he got away, I shouldnt have shot but I thought he was closer, he was a nice bird. I guess thats what I get for putting all my eggs in one basket, I scouted out our own farm and one neighboring farm and never heard a bird on the other farm. I should have been more prepared to cover more ground, but I figured I could get it done with the 800+ acres I had to work with,, guess I was wrong, Sorry. Congrats to you guys who scored, and congrats Deeg for killing a ton of birds this spring. Must be nice.

hey angus, its not a big deal man.
my dad also had the worst season hes ever had, but then again he did only hunt two days here in missouri as opposed to normally hunting 4 different states for at least 4 days

I killed another longbeard on The Appalachian Mountains near Rural Retreat, VA. The forest is called Jefferson National forest, but I did manage to kill a nice longbeard around 9am. Check out the pics on the main page or turkey hunting under the "Virginia longbeard..." thread. My season is over and I'm wore slap out. I am planning my 2009 trip and can't wait til I can get back out there chasing some more longbeards.
