You might have more luck in the archery forums. However to answer your question I think Bear bows are very good bows for the money. I have a Truth (original, not the Truth II) and I really really like it. I'm fully convinced that when you buy a Matthews, Hoyt, or Bowtech you are spending a lot of money on the name only. I think you can spend a lot less money on a Bear and get a lot more bang for your buck.

I second that... I also shoot a truth, the original not the truth 2. When you purchase a matthews or a hoyt they are also great bows however think about how much they must spend on advertising. Any of the big names you cant go wrong

I have a Bear Bruin that I have shot for years.. I have recently retired it for a Bow Tech though. I can't complain about my old Bear bow though as it surved me well..

Do you by any chance live near a Basspro or Cableas? Most have a room where you can test out bows before buying. I highly recommend it. If you don't have one, then most good archery places will have something set up.

I shoot a original Bear Truth bow and love it.

I have a Bear Lights Out and LOVE it! Quality bow, crappy string...but it's good enough to get you started just make sure you use a tubed peep...but the Lights Out is VERY quiet and easy to maneuver.
