I have a Winchester Model 1000. I really never use it, but wifey and I go to the range regularly with the .22s. I should put this in there and see what I can do. I have some .177 ammo. I let you know how I do.

I don't "hunt" anything with my 22 air rifle.
It's just used for pest control.
Last pest was woodpeckers.

Prolly a good thing you're not "hunting" them since woodpeckers are federally protected.

The same thing I was thinking. The price you can possibly pay for shooting a protected animal is just too high. And like I told my son as fatherly advice, somebody always sees you, an assumption that will keep you out of trouble. Do you remember the little plicks that always ratted you out in elementary school, well they are adults now. They just raised the fine from a cap of $5000 to $15000 for the illegal killing of a protected bird species.

We have a plague of Rodents here, likely due to the really mild winter. I just picked up an old Feinwerkbau model 300, it was a gift from a friend. It needed some stock work, cleaning, and minor rust work. I just order a Weaver adapter for it and plan on mounting a Holo sight.
I've been trapping the critters. my score so far is dozens of Mice, 4 Rats, one Raccoon, my dog, two Blackbirds, and the neighbors Cat. I've been mostly using live traps so I can release anything not a Rodent.
I even had to release the Raccoon, somebody decided there should be a Raccoon season here and I caught it out of season. I did relocate it miles away.

I've thought about picking up one in .22 caliber. What kind of site/scope, mount, pellets, aiming point(s), etc. are you using? 50 squirrels for the season means it works well. That looks like a backyard equalizer!
