RE: Where to put treestands?
Try to find where the BUCKS bed (I'm assuming your after a buck). Try to find travel route from the bedding area to the feeding areas. Try to approach your stand without bumping deer. When you position your stand be aware of the prevailing wind direction and position your stand so the deer will not be able to scent you on the trail. your stand should be position around 15-20 yards from the trail. Make sure your stand has able cover for you.
If you just position your stand on heavy used trails, chances are that you will see a lot of does. Bucks and does generally do not use the same trail except when the bucks are in rut. Then most of the patterning goes out the window.
