Are you sure you are seating the musket cap all the way down to the base? The reason is if your not often times the first strike will set the cap and the second will then fire it. Take some emery cloth and buff the musket cap nipple where the cap sits. That will help you put it on better..... See if that does not help. Also try a new brand of cap.
