If the person shooting a crossbow practices and knows the weapons limitations than I have no problem with it. Yes i know the same can be said about any bow, but the characteristics of a crossbow make it easy, in the hands of the uneducated, to make poor decisions.
Well put. It seems to me, and maybe I am wrong, that the crossbow attracts some of the same crowd that buys a gun the first day of the season and rushes out to the woods with the tags still on. Again, this is obviously a generalization and I am sure most crossbow shooters are quite responsible, but when you own a small parcel of land (23 acres) in a heavily hunted area as I do, complete with its fair share of poachers, I simply don't want any more projectiles flying onto my property than possbile. Is that selfish? Yes, but then I am selfish when it comes to my safety and health. I don't bowhunt during gun season as it is because of safety reasons, even though it is my own land!
