Default RE: Yet another NEWBIE question; Longbow vs Recurve?

I would say my 64lb crusader longbow is about as fast and as smooth as my bob lee recurve at 64lbs both drawn to the same draw length (granted I draw the curve about 1/2" longer due to holding style).

I think it has more to do with design. I have a old herters bow that bounces all over the place in your hands (and is noisy to boot)...I dont think it should be shot anymore but I did when I first FOUND it (ya it was in the dump in a leather case believe it or not!) More often then not though a recurve is going to be smoother as far as hand shock and quicker as far as speed is concerned, imo I would say a recurve is going to be smoother on the draw but from what limited play time and what few bows I have (all 11 of them <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>) I would have to say a curve is smoother to draw on the average all else being equal! Its kinda hard to take a 58&quot; recurve and compare it to a 68&quot; longbow imo! Then again there isnt many folks up here with very quality bows....a few but not many! just my .02
