hey i'm glad to see that you're getting into hunting, you'll love it more everytime you go
but a .223 is a better gun for varmints and predators. and the ammo ain't that expensive!
but if u plan on going deer hunting too, get something bigger. i have an "all-purpose" gun that i use for deer, bear, fox, coyote, and bobcats. my trusty .308. i know that seems like a lot of gun for small animals, but i haven't ruined a hide yet
