Default RE: 1 Year Old Visla training troubles.

Your absolutely right Jackson.
I spoke to Rich Cummings the breeder I purchased her from yesterday. He also starts, and finishes dogs for people. He said the exact same thing. I did introduce her to the gun when she was about two months old, and she did not seem to mind, but as yourself, and Rich have said it was not proper introduction. Problem #2 he said is she needs to be worked in controlled conditions over birds for at least once a day for a month. This to show her just what, how, and when everything is supposed to happen. I.E. the point, whoa, flush, and then the shot. He said a pointer will become confused when hunting incoming birds it hasn't seen, and then bang!!!. She doesn't realize what just happend, and it startled her. As I wrote before she has been introduced to the birds, and even the gun, but IMO not the right way in the right order. I am open to any suggestions you might have. Rich is willing to take her in December for a month to work her "right" for $450.00. Either that or I will need to start raising pigeons, and I honestly know nothing about how to aquire, or take care of them.

Thanks a million!!!!!!
