I mainly worry about the scents that game might associate with danger........human body odor being #1. I can't imagine why an animal would be spooked by something as mild and non threatening as bowstring wax.
I use a wax with Bee's wax in it and it smells pretty strong and sweet for many years........I couldn't tell you the last time a deer even looked my direction.
Don't sweat the wax.
