RE: Darton Rampage, first impressions.
Phil:
I know that I am not 5-shot, but I have had a similar pain under the shoulder blade that you are talking about due to a shoulder separation. I had to lay off for a while, then started back with reduced draw weight. For me, the Darton type draw is much easier than the late peak weight that many of the single cams have today. I had surgery back in June, and I can shoot my Darton at 66# without any real effort. I get no pain following shooting like I had for a while. I recently got another bow from a manufacturer who has a try out for 10 days program. Before the end of day 2, I was getting soreness, and I couldn't believe how much harder it was to draw the other bow than the Darton, plus the Darton was much faster. If I wasn't this happy with the Darton I have, I would definitely look hard at the Rampage. It seems like it should be a great bow. When guys on archery forums talk about how smooth a bow is, they are talking about many different things. In terms of smoothness of draw, I have not shot any bow with close to the speed of a Darton that has such a smooth draw. The only other thing I would add is that, with my shoulder, I have a much harder time letting the bow down without shooting than before. Not that it happens that often, but when I'm up in a tree stand and have to let the bow down for some reason - well, that's why I personally am not too interested in a Bowtech. The are very nice bows to shoot, but if I have to let down, now that is painful! Getting old and beaten up is not really that much fun, is it?<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>
