RE: Carbons and inserts?
It's a good idea to rough up the inside of the carbons a bit... then clean them out, (use alcohol or acetone on a cotton swab), before installing the inserts. There is a tool to do this, but I've used a new, (not oiled), .243 bore brush to do the job. Just make sure you don't choose a brush that is too big for the I.D. as it could damage the shaft.
As far as glue, use a slow setting, (12 or 24 hour), two part epoxy. It's the way to go for keeping them put. The 5 minute expoy can dry too fast and become brittle.
