Default RE: how do you use your deer call?

That's true. I have used a grunt before. I lost the damn thing, but the one time I used it, it worked like a charm. It was starting to get late and I saw a nice 8 pt step out and start making his way out in front. There was a huge brush pile and I was afraid to lose him behind it and not get a shot before my legal shooting time was up. I grunted and he truned and looked around a bit, pawed at the ground and starting wandering toward me. Another buck came out and started coming at me to. Well, I got a better look and decided although nice, he was a wee bit small. I had him on video from a couple weeks before and it was some great footage. Once I recognized him, I set the gun down and jut grunted at him a little. Once he figured out where I was, he stared at me a little and I shifted my leg in the tripod and bumped something and both of them bolted. But it drew him in.

Every year we rattle up a few. The first I got last year, I rattled up. HE was going at it with someone else(That's cool to hear two bucks getting it on!!) and as soon as I popped the horns together, he came running, much to his detriment. I should have let him walk, but I was so pleased with my rattling, I took him. He was 4 1/2 and had a modest rack, 8 points.

We usually get in the jeep and drive out to a hill somewhere and rattle with one man on the shooter's seat, one rattlin and another glassing. We'll hit it a few times and wait and then move on to the next spot. Almost always see plenty that way, but seldom a big one.
