RE: Browning BLR in 30-.06 - good idea?
Personally, I don't like the looks of the BLRs, but I understand they are fine guns. I prefer bolt actions myself, but I do have a soft spot for my Marlin 30-30. Of both of the rounds you mentioned, I would probably pick the '06. The 270 is great, but it sounds like you want something that will be a "do it all" gun. I think that the 30-06 fits the bill a little better.
