Default RE: Pro Team 175

What boat you buy is greatly dependant on what fishing you plan to do. My boat is a Bass tracker Pro 17 with 60 horse Johnson, While I am not happy with the Johnson motor...I am very happy with the boat. It is a good sturdy little boat. I chose it for a few reasons...the first was that I prefer river fishing. The aluminun boats are better in the river if for no other reason than there is always alot of crap floating in rivers and if you bump a log or something you do not have to worry about paint repair or a chip in your hull like the fiberglass boats. A little dent and perhaps a ding or two and that is all. The smaller aluminum boats also have a a lower in water draft which is good for the inconsistant depths of rivers.
While I would never take my little tracker out on lake michigan or other big lake except on the calmest of days...which a deep v or the larger fiberglass bass boats CAN do...it handles fairly rough water...2-3 foot swells on kentucky lake for instance...moderately well. you cant be in a hurry to get anywhere in water like that, but it will stay floatin. The big disadvantage to the aluminum boats is the ride. They ride much rougher than their fiberglass cousins.
