One of the most critical things, and most often left until the last minute, is getting yourself into shape. Most of the public areas in western Colorado are at elevations greater than 7500 feet. This is going to require you to be in excellent physical condition to hunt effectively, and most importantly, getting the animal out of the woods and taken care of properly.
