Default RE: Western Md turkey hunters

Living in Frederick Co., I'm not located in the better Western Maryland turkey counties, but I have done a lot of scouting and turkey hunting this year and have located some turkeys. I took the first week of the season off and hunted every available hour, getting into the woods 1/2 hr. to an hr. before light every day. I heard a lot of gobbling this first week and had some birds I was working, but wasn't successful in getting any in range to take the shot. The 2nd Sat., I went to Pa. and hunted with my cousin, who has been chasing these pea brains for 25 years, and we both bagged a nice gobbler. Since then I have hunted every Sat. with a few week days thown in, down here in Md., and have heard no gobbling whatsoever. I know the birds are still there because one morning I bumped 3 birds from a roost I have never seen them use before.

But to answer your question, I have not heard a gobble for weeks in Md.
