Default RE: VT Deer Management Seminar

hey rob, isn't that the same day as the state's meeting in barre? if so, that was poor planning by someone. do you think the speaker will tell the truth about qdm, good and bad points, like how we have to knock down our herd to do qdm right, which should be right after we get the habitat situation in place first? all of the biologists that i have talked with on both sides of the issue have stated that qdm cannot be done without taking down the herd first, and that your total buck kill never comes close to what it currently is. love to hear the guy mention that part. or about how many deer get left in the woods because of mistakes made. or how we are putting extra pressure on the breeding population of bucks by not going after certain age classes of deer, and therefore actually hurt the very bucks we are trying to harvest. or how most states use yearling bucks to measure the health of their herds, and by passing on this age class, a great deal of valuable information is lost. i don't particulary like any aspect of qdm, can you tell, lol? any let's not forget the increase in land posted, the pay per kill aspect coming in here, either. all of these points i have made can be validated by this guy, let's see if he brings them up.
