Butch, that is very good reasoning. CCW should always be what you shoot accurately and feel comfortable with. Beware the man with one rifle or pistol.... "Most" gunfights involve less than a 45 magazine of shots so you should be good to go. The OP article didn't state it but some LE agencies are switching from 40's to 9's because the 40's run at a lot higher pressure than 9's and 45's and need more maintenance. Bullet technology has also come a long ways to where 9's perform almost on the same level as 45's and 40's.
Yep, you don't need a 13 round magazine, you need to be able to shoot straight under pressure. As Bill Hickok said, you can't miss fast enough to make up for poor shooting.
