I saw a guy using an 8 inch electric ice auger yesterday. Before he left he let me try drilling a hole with it. It went threw 18 inches of ice in no time. I am now fully convinced that the electric drills are the way to go.. That one was super light and very quiet with no pulling on the pull cord to get it running. All that was needed was a brushless drill he said the others drills may work but could eat the brushes out of them..
