the barnes 150 tsx works well in my experience,
deer are rather easy too kill if the shots placed well, and if you get decent penetration,
a 300 wby is at shorter ranges...a bit over-kill but at long range ,
its certainly a good option
your certainly not the first guy to find that the slower twist rate on some rifles prevents accurate use of some heavier bullet options
on deer its not a big handicap using the 150 grain bullets as rapid expansion is devastatingly effective on mid (B) or lower chest hits,(C) to heart/lungs
