Carbon fiber barrels are seldom lighter than a nice sporter contour. Most carbon barrels are right about 2.5 lbs, about comparable to a #4 contour steel barrel weight.
For weight, a fluted #2 is pretty slick...
I really like carbon fiber though...so I'd go carbon every time if funds allowed.
