well its surely not a serious magnum, but with decent 158-180-200 grain bullet weight, in a carbine or revolver,
and low recoil , it would transform the AR platform or marlin lever action into a decent 150 yard deer rifle,
and it would certainly easily eclipse the 357 mag performance in a revolver that had the cylinder length to chamber it
the 500 S&W has a 2.3" cylinder length, the cartridge case is 1.8" in length,
