You said you're not new to firearms in the above emboldened part of your post. Do you have any center-fire rifles already? If you do, maybe one of those would be suitable for your hunting rifle. If not, have you considered looking for something used? Sometimes you can get a really good deal on a rifle with some life left in the barrel and a scope included.
