Try shooting a 12 gauge before you buy, remember hunting geese in the winter if you don't live in the south you will be wearing heavy clothing which helps to absorb some recoil. The most important thing is that the gun fits you, an ill fitting gun will cause a lot more felt recoil than one that fits.
Do you think a 12 with a recoil pad would do well? Should I get a pump or a semi-auto? And do I need decoys/dog?
