The reason i know the breech plugs are not nitride, is because i have drilled and tapped them, with standard high speed tooling, without any issues. The black colored CVA plugs cut just like the shiny plugs.
I just put a new Optima V2 in the safe and will have another QRBP for you to drill out for me, next year. That BP looks like its just painted black to match the receiver. I do like the looks of the nitride barrel so far.
