For the successful shot, it was actually a bit farther. Around 30 yards.
I did aim a bit lower, and the deer didn't duck at all. He did begin to run, and I think that contributed to me hitting a bit farther to the rear than I aimed, but it didn't alter it that much.
I also added
string dampeners. I tested it before and after adding them and they reduced the noise around 5 dB.
Even though this season had a happy ending, I did order another crossbow. I got an
empire beowulf. It came a couple days after I shot my deer. I've already chronographed it, and it goes around 340 fps. It has better groups, much quieter, and I really like it overall. I'm looking forward to using it next year.
