I recently got asked to join the folks at Third Coast Thermal as a pro staffer and to evaluate some of the gear that they are selling. The first scope I was given to test was a new Armasight Predator, which is an entry level thermal scope. That basically means that it is a mid-range scope with no frills marketed at the least possible price.
I did some field tests with it, but failed to find an quarry until last night.
The hunt presented some real hunt problems. Shooting through vegetation isn't optimal and it plays havoc on thermal when the vegetation is still hot from the day's solar radiation. The second shot does a much better job of demonstrating the scope's capabilities as most people would normally take their shots.
The bottom line on the scope is that it will definitely hunt.
