Ive gotta Win '94 30-30 & a Marlin Ggun 45-70... My preference???

My 1968 Marlin 336 RC 35Rem that my gdad handed down to me as a teen in the mid-80s! It wears a Leupold VXiii 2.5x8x36 & I shoot the 220grn Buffalo Bore ammo. It's NOT extremely powerful ammo like I used in my Ggun, it's simply increased pressure to about 30-30 levels, really makes the 35 a true "swamp hammer" but blasts & recoils no more than say a 2.75" high brass 12ga upland game round. Did I mention I LOVE this lil baby?

The 30-30 I have because no gun collection is real without one but I just don't hunt with it as its a 1965 model (belonged to wife's uncle) & I demand a scope & prefer left shouldered so it's out. The Guidegun I have a 2x7x33 Redfield Revo on it. It's stoked with 300grn Barnes from Buffalo Bore & SHEEZEUS H. CRIMMUNY will it seperate your fillings from your teeth, thunder as bad if not worse than my Mossberg 835 with 3.5" triplex Nitros from Missouri!!! My oldest son has an 1895STBL 45-70 & prefers the 325 Leverevos in his. They recoil about like a 12ga 3" mag. Regular trapdoor/powderpuff loads in the 1895 are no worse than dove loads in a 12ga. Shots over 150yds with essentially any 45-70 loads will require thought & compensation.

I've often thought about a Marlin 1894 with a 16" barrel & in 45LC, I'd shoot the +++P Buffalo Bore stuff from it for essentially the same speed & power with 250-300grn rounds as typically found in the trapdoor/powderpuff 45-70 loads... But then I think "why?" It'd carry like a dream but then it's maxxed out, the Ggun handles essentially the same but being a 45-70 it has MANY more options!

Ps
As for spraying down your atv, forget it. You WONT cover up its scent (other than maybe where you actually sit on the seat & the handlebar grips, masking YOUR stink!) but honestly I've yet to see them react negatively to atvs & carts actually in the woods, from a smell perspective. Especially deer in ag country, they smell & deal with stinky machinery every day..I only allow electric carts on my place from Sept-Jan (unless retrieving deer, even then I prefer my 1980 Chevy 4x4 farm truck that's silent & goes nearly anywhere) my biggest arguement & experience with atvs is the noise! I've seen deer run from them 1/2 mile or more away. But certainly, once parked & hidden behind brush (or simply covered with an old Christmas tree or a few limbs) most deer wandering by over 10yrds away won't pay them any attention.
