NoMercy - you and I have the same thoughts about the handguns and cartridge selection. Coolbrze0 didn't specify but I think he lives in an area where only shotguns and handgun (or handgun cartridge chambered rifles) and possibly muzzleloaders are allowed. I owned both the contender and the encore. My encore in 7-08 was a dynamite handgun that was more accurate than I was capable of utilizing to its fullest. I did manage to shoot a few deer at <100 yards and numerous groundhogs at some fairly long ranges.
