Well the rain held out long enough. Birds were henned up early and didn't want anything to do with a call. About 8:30 they fired back up and started gobbling again. I finally got him to answer me twice and then I gave him the ole silent treatment. 25 minutes later he gobbled and they were about 50 yards, his next gobble about 30, and his final gobble was at 18 steps. I was shocked when I saw 4 toms strolling. I took my "pick" of the litter. 20 1/2 lbs, 11 1/2" beard, and 7/8" spurs. I can tell we had a rough winter, this is one of the smallest weight birds I've killed on that farm in about 10 years.
