I've been known to haul a 30-30 around. My grandfather bought me one when I was 8 years old and when I was 9 I shot my first buck, a 3x3 mulie. I put a peep on mine and she is good and accurate. I recently inherited my father's 30-30 that he got in 1949 from his father. I'm pretty sure I'll be trying to take a doe with her this fall.
As long as the range isn't too far, the 30-30 will work well. Enjoy your time afield with a true American classic.
