This morning it was snowing at dawn. It snowed all morning, and into the afternoon. There were things i needed to do; i did them. After the drive was shoveled, i noticed a slowdown in the snow. Some vials were loaded; we went up into the hills. It was 17 degrees, and snowing. Prior warm temperatures made a muddy muddy mess where i wanted to shoot. Four wheel drive took us where we needed to be. Shooting was done from 200 yard. Rifle was the Knight 50 caliber Disc Extreme with a 1.5-5 scope. Load was 110g Blackhorn, 300g 44 caliber XTP, smooth green Harvester sabot, W209 primer.
First two shots hit dirt below the target. Next two shots hit brown cardboard below the target. Some snowflakes appear as bullet holes in the brown. After final scope adjustment, the last three shots hit the paper out to the right in the white. Bullet holes weren't visible through the spotting scope. To see the holes to adjust the scope, i had to drive closer to the target. Walking was out of the question due to the mud. The 3 holes in the paper are less than moa.
Two main reasons i left the house was to escape cabin fever, and to shoot the Knight one last time before listing it for sale. Heavy snow forced me back home. Wow!.. What a wonderful rifle it is. It feels so 'solid'. Trigger has been adjusted to just before dangerous. Breech plug is bare primer with removable vent. Bolt fits the barrel super tight. Primers are compressed tight when the bolt is forced closed tight to the stock, and no soot gets by the nose of the primer. No tape, nor grease was used on the breech plug, and no soot got passed the first thread; the plug is shiny bright, back past the soot at the nose. What a sweet sweet rifle this is! It is glass bedded around the lug, and back; the barrel is free floated. It has never been hunting with me, because it is so long and heavy.
Driving home on snow covered slippery roads, it occurred to me that i never felt/noticed recoil whilst shooting, nor did i recall pulling on the trigger. Trigger is sweet. Wife say, don't sell, even though i never shoot it, or hunt with it, i didn't/won't argue.
