Yes, make the hunt fun for your son, but please as he gets older show him other ways to hunt. Let him make up his mind on what method he likes best.
He's been hunting whitetails in the big woods of PA since he was 6 years old. He knows what a wild hunt is. He knows all about getting busted. He also knows what it's like to not see anything and get skunked. In the early season, he sees deer that are out of range. He sees deer that are in heavy cover and cannot shoot.

Rememeber, we have no bait or dogs in PA. It's just us and the animal. This is how we hunt. A trip out-of-state is a special occasion.

There's no spot and stalk where we hunt. When you can't see 10 feet, it's kind of hard to spot. Bear live in cover you have to crawl through. There's no watching them feed on a grassy slope with our binoculars.
