If you come in the fall you can hunt almost anywhere but most states require a gun safety course. You can do it online from what I hear. Grouse in the upper midwest or deer in Wisconsin. Public land is everywhere in many states. Getting a deer can be tough sometimes though. Wisconsin, Michigan or Minnesota is a good place to hunt deer with a gun and grouse earlier in the years.
