From what I have read (and that isn't a whole lot) the difference you get with a shotgun scope is that they are paralax adjusted to 50 or 75 yds, as opposed to a rifle scope which are 100 yds (or more?). I hear from some guys that they think a shotgun scope is built to withstand greater recoil, but I believe that is BS.

Paralax is complicated and I don't understand it that well. But the longer the paralax free distance is, the better. The way shotguns shoot sabots these days, it makes no sense to go with a shotgun scope.
