My rifle season ended on Tuesday and it wasn't productive. I did get a doe at last light during the week and by the time I had her gutted and hung I was tired and didn't think of getting a picture. I hunt on over 900 acres and we only had 3 deer killed this year. Compared to the 11 killed last year, I would say it was a very slow year. The weather was just to warm and windy.
I did pass on a decent 9 or 10 one morning. And when I say pass, I mean it came up on my off side and I couldn't get in a position I was comfortable with to shoot him. I do think he is a 3.5 yr old, so if I get a better look at him I still may let him walk.
I still have muzzleloader season in a couple of weeks so I hope I can pattern the bucks for the few days I will be able to hunt. I plan on moving my cameras back to the trails and off the scrapes tomorrow. I think the second rut may hit during that week so it may end up being good after all.
Now, back to hopefully getting out with my bow. I have 3 weeks before ML starts but this time of year is always busy so who knows.
Good luck all who still have time left.
