Default Why I like my T/C Hawken 45 Caplock

Although it was hot and sticky this morning I needed to shoot something. And I remembered Cayugad's post a while back about shooting offhand. So I gathered up my stuff and grabbed the T/C Hawken 45 Caplock with the T/C tang peep.
I got to the range and set the target out at 50 yds. Came back to the truck and swabbed the bore out with an alcohol patch and popped a cap. Loaded her up with 80 gr of Pyrodex P and 200 gr XTP with Harvester blue EZ load sabot and capped her. Pulled the set trigger, shouldered her and took a careful bead and gently squeezed the front trigger. Shot felt good but looking thru the binos I hit 6 O'clock about 4" low. Hmmmm. Two more shots in the same area. About 2" or so at 50 yds offhand so not bad. Ok then, lets try kneeling. Shot 3 more and shots 1 and 3 in the same general area as the offhand and again about 2" apart. (don't know why #2 went really astray - si I didn't even count that one.) Got the bench and sandbags out of the truck. Made two sight adjustments with second one almost dead center. (All these shots on the first target.)
Now, time to try offhand again. Shot #1,bullseye - Aha., Shot #2 - another bulls eye..whoopie. OK knucklehead, don't blow the next shot. Take your time. Shot #3 - another bulls eye.
OK time to quit. Don't ruin a good thing.
I am a very happy camper right now.
