Dont worry about all the fancy advertised toys out there. Like has been mentioned already...stick to the basics. Reliable, well sighted in rifle and shells, a good sharp knife and stone, compass, and some fire starting means. Know how to use and practice with the compass and fire starting. Hypothermia gets more hunters in trouble than errant shots. A compact flashlight to find your way in and out of the woods (AA batter size is usually permited to be carried when hunting).
Totally avoid all cotton when hunting. It holds moisture like a sponge does, and will chill you. Check out Sportsmans Warehouse for really good deals on quality synthetic long underwear and surplus wool pants. Polar fleece is great stuff. A good warm and water proof hat.
Check out used clothing stores for good deals on wool pants and shirts. Remember, the warmer you are, the more still you are, and less likely to be seen, as well as more likely to enjoy your hunting and be out more.
