I used to shoot lead 6's and 5's for ducks and lead 2's, 1's and BB's for geese. We have tried steel 4's for ducks and at best only crippled them. Tried all the chokes. No poop to scoot to knock a duck down over 20 yds. Would not even try them for swatter loads now. Steel 3's early first shot, 2's next, early season. Later season, 2's first, then BB's after that. All 3". Have been known to load a 3-1/2" BB for real late season for 3rd shot. We hunt alot of public areas. By the time the ducks and geese get to us they know the maker of dekes from a mile off and the call maker from a mile and a half!!! IMHO.
