Their are a few things you can do.

If it is a string loop - you can give it a spin - then tighten the knots up with plyers put between the string and the loop and open them. A metal loop can be unscrewed and repositioned.

Put bow in press or get one of those string seperators and redo the peep by switching strands from one side to another.

Press bow and twist string.

or give it a twist with your hand before each shot - until you break the string in.

But ausie is right - you need to get a bunch of shots through it to let it settle.
