This was my first time hunting Turkey and the two calls I found to help me be succesful cost a total of 35 bucks. A 3 pack of Primos mouth calls which I learned how to use after a weeks practice the 3 reed being my favorite and most productive. A Hunter Specialties LIL' Deuce Slate call with Carbon Striker, very easy to use also. At least one Hen Decoy 2 if possible placed were the wind can animate them located 12 to 20 yards away has worked well for me. And all my success came at between 2 and 5 in the evening in areas I had scouted the birds ahead of time. I never used a blind only the heavy cover close to where the birds could strut toward my decoys. I had no success in the rain only on sunny days later in the day but that will vary in different areas I'm sure. Be willing to take a nice Jake for your first time out, I did and was glad to get him in my first season, see Album. I used these two calls to call in 3 birds 2 of which I had a shot at and one for a first time hunter which she nailed after a 1/2 an hour wait it was 22lbs-10" beard-3/4 spurs a nice Turkey for her first bird. Patience is your best virtue hunting these awesome birds. Good Hunting!
