Thats why i suggested putting a "handle" on your dogs if you plan on shooting. I use a 22 mag with dynapoints or winchester jacketed lead soft points so they dont pass through. Youre probably not going to shoot very far so head shots are the ticket. I was a butcher for awhile and slaughtered hundreds of cows and pigs in the field out to 50 or 60 yards with a 22 magnum. You just have to be careful and get to know your dogs on the bay. I.e my dogs usually bay right off the nose of the hog a foot or two away. Some dogs like to circle the hog and that makes for aggravating shooting.
