Everyone seems to be making it a bigger issue than it is. Just as some use handguns or archery for hunting and it increases the challenge, .22 can be used for coyotes, it just makes it harder
WRONG, its got nothing to do with making it more challenging.
Like it or not the .22 is a very funny round. As some have said, Ive shot coon in the head point blank wih them and it just made the coon mad.Had a similiar experience with a dog, had an old one that had something wrong wih it, he got mean and had o pu him down, from about 10 yrds I hit him right between the eyes, rolled him and he got up and ran off.Had to get the 12 guage to finish him off.
On the other hand Ive seen deer shot in the lungs with a .22 go down very fast, yes I know is illegal to shoot deer with a .22.The round also has a tendency to ricochet around if it hits bone, ask any ER doctor whos ever dealt wih it, they can just do crazy things once they hit and go off at wierd angles through the body.
Ive shot several yotes in snares with them and only had to shoot one more than once.
But the round is not reliable enough, even with well placed shots, to kill quickly, and make recovery possible on most predators with any consistency.Yotes arent my favorite animal by any means but even they dont deserve to be crippled with a bullet that never shoulda been used and left to die a slow painfull death because your looking for a "challenge"Use the right gun for the job or stay home, its that simple.
